A former banker by profession and an accountant
by training, I am now a food blogger and photographer following my husband who has been taking up work
assignments in different countries. After living in Southeast Asia(Singapore and Malaysia) for four years, now we are living in Basel, Switzerland.
Hip hopping around the world has turned me into a food blogger,
photographer, volunteer, hiker +++.
My cooking style is influenced by my native
roots which is Jaffna
in North of Sri Lanka as well as from the countries where I have lived. Sri
Lankan culinary traditions are quite similar to that of Kerala in India . You will
find generous use of coconut cream, shredded coconut, spices and rice flour in
our cuisine. (Yes, it is mostly gluten free!)
So far I have lived in three countries outside
Sri Lanka
and traveled to few other countries. (If
you wish to see more of my photography check out PhotosbyAbi facebook page) My culinary
experiments blogged here are influenced by my experiences living and traveling
across these countries. And it is evolving daily as I try out different
cuisines from across the world.
I am new to food photography and has so far
self taught myself through the Internet. I currently use a Canon DSLR 600D with
18-135mm and 50IImm lense. (DSLR is used to shoot from this post on-wards) I always strive for perfection and am presently trying
as much as possible to replace my old photos shot with the standard point
and shoot camera. Hopefully I will succeed in making you drool over my food photos.
You wouldn’t find any sweet or dessert
recipes in my blog as both me and my hubby are on the higher side of the bathroom
scale. We satisfy our cravings by buying sweets and chocolates in small
amounts. But sweets are never stocked in our pantry and rarely made in my kitchen. I do love baking, often find an excuse to bake a cake to my friends. (Check out my facebook page for cake photos and recipes)
Also there aren't many baking recipes
here. Because I did not have an oven and AJ (my hubby) does not eat cakes. But
now I have one and I'm replacing all deep frying into roasting. Hence now you will find oven roasted vegetable soups, salads or even curries
with roasted vegetables.
